We stumbled upon this Burnside and were beyond impressed with its potential and, after a few years of nurturing this cask, we were not disappointed. We received offers to buy this cask outright but we knew it had to be bottled. This Burnside blended malt was distilled in 1999, this whisky took its time before being bottled out of its first fill Oloroso sherry cask in 2025.
The label is the white knight given life by @alexandervperkins and set to position Ng1 on the board. The knight has the unique movement of two squares vertically and one square horizontally or two squares horizontally and one square vertically, able to jump over other pieces. That movement dates back to its first introduction into the game of chaturanga around the sixth century. Sometimes given the name “horse” colloquially, the art demonstrates the beauty of the animal and its presence in the game.
This blended malt scotch whisky is non-chill filtered and naturally coloured, yielding 217 bottles at a cask strength of 54.1% ABV.
