Worthy Park 2015

Located in Lluidas Vale in the parish of St. Catherine, the pot still Jamaican rums produced by Worthy Park are well known to many in the rum world. Rum production in Jamaica dates back to 1741 and the estate was first established in 1670, showing the region’s long history of rum production.

This Worthy Park medium was distilled in 2015 with a full continental maturation in a once used bourbon barrel before being bottled just short of its tenth anniversary. The result is an outstanding and balanced rum that integrates the bourbon cask influence with the exceptional spirit characteristics. This nine-year-old Worthy Park is approachable enough for those new to rum with layers of complexity and depth that bely its young age for those who have had a chance to explore.

“Canes Venatici” is a beautiful work by Toronto-based artist Alexander Perkins for the Stargazing series and is based on the constellation of the same name. Latin for “hunting dogs”, it is a small northern constellation, with its brightest star being Cor Caroli, created by Johannes Hevelius in the 17th century and is often depicted as representing the dogs of Boötes the Herdsman, a neighbouring constellation. It has a rich history reaching as far back as Ptolemy and remains one of the 88 constellations recognised by the International Astronomical Union (yes, the same people who dropped Pluto as a planet).

This single barrel rum is non-chill filtered with no additives, yielding 246 bottles at a cask strength of 60.8% ABV.
