We can’t tell you much about this single malt whisky from a Highland distillery, except that it has aged for twenty years in a refill bourbon hogshead. It has light peat notes that evoke flavours of fresh apple, pepper, vanilla and a lovely oiliness that all settle in well with the wonderful and soft peated notes of this secret Highland distillery. No spoilers, but we suspect there will be ‘more love for this selection once it finds its home with the Manitoba Spirits Society.
This bottling is in collaboration with the Manitoba Spirits Society, who we were recently introduced to. The Manitoba Spirits Society brings together enthusiasts, connoisseurs, and newcomers to explore, share, and celebrate exceptional spirits. Through tastings, friendships, and community, they dive into the craft, culture and character of spirits - one pour at a time. The knowledge and enthusiasm of the team was clear and this is the nicest group of people you could want to share a single malt scotch whisky with. We hope this is the first of many bottlings for the Manitoba Spirits Society.
The label by Alix Tucker brings the spirit to life through the piece “Steeprock”. One of the most photographed spots in Manitoba, Steeprock has jagged limestone cliffs that meet the hazy waters of Lake Manitoba. This harsh geography, however, is complemented by painted skies and colourful wildflowers, making this a place of tranquility and relaxation.
This single malt scotch whisky is non-chill filtered and naturally coloured, yielding 30 bottles at a cask strength of 53.8% ABV. |
